Technical Copywriter
Marek Laskowski
A concrete approach to texts at Odra Media Link
Marek came to Odra Media Link in February 2019. For 11 years, he dealt with technical documentation in heavy industry, which taught him that every word must have its place. At OML, he doesn't deal with coming up with catchy slogans that mean nothing. His work is to ensure that messages leaving the office in Poznań are precise as a lathe operation manual. We monitor facts around the clock, and Marek is the first link in this control.
In the last 14 months, Marek has conducted an audit for 4 capital groups, analyzing a total of 156 annual reports and exchange messages. Thanks to his intervention, one of our clients avoided an error in financial data interpretation in October 2023. Such a mistake could have cost the company about 14,000 PLN in fees for corrections and renegotiations of advertising contracts alone. Marek uses his own 12-point control method, which mercilessly eliminates fluff from expert texts.
Daily, Marek operates on concrete data, not on hunches. His morning starts at 8:15 AM with checking alerts from the last 14 hours. He uses filters that he programmed himself to catch image manipulation attempts against our clients online. Simple rules and a clear media picture are the foundation of his work. He often repeats in the office that PR is more math and signal analysis than fine literature. If an unnecessary adjective appears in a text, Marek simply cuts it out.
We act fast because news doesn't wait, and Marek shortened the average technical verification time of a press release from 4 hours to less than 72 minutes. He does this without loss to substance. He just knows where to look for logical errors. In March this year, he helped a manufacturing company from Wielkopolska prepare a series of 7 technical posts that realistically explained the assembly line's operation to recipients, without using empty slogans about modernity.
To be honest, Marek can be a difficult collaborator because he doesn't accept compromises in data quality. He leads a small team of 2 analysts at OML, whom he teaches that zero guessing is the only path to reliable PR. He works from Monday to Friday from 8:15 AM to 4:15 PM, and every third Wednesday of the month he conducts internal training on plain language for the entire Półwiejska office. Privately a fan of old Poznań maps and reliable investigative journalism.
